Preparing for a Mount Rinjani trek requires thoughtful planning and the right gear. This guide will help ensure your journey is safe, comfortable, and unforgettable. Whether you’re climbing to the crater rim, summit, or Segara Anak Lake, the right preparation will make all the difference.
What We Provide During Your Trek
Green Rinjani ensures a high level of comfort, safety, and hygiene by supplying the best available equipment on the mountain. All gear is well-maintained, regularly cleaned, and upgraded every season.
Camping Equipment Provided: Rinjani camping equipment provide by Green Rinjani
- High-quality tents (new or well-maintained, waterproof, and windproof)
- Warm sleeping bags (washed after every use)
- Comfortable sponge mattresses
- Pillows
- Foldable camping chairs & dining tables
- Private toilet tent + toilet paper
- Portable toilet (optional – available by request at additional cost)
- Full cooking gear set
- Flysheet (extra waterproof cover for group shelter)
Zero-Waste Packing Practices:
We minimize plastic and packaging waste during treks. Cooking tools and food supplies are packed in reusable containers. Organic waste is collected and carried down. We encourage guests to support this effort by minimizing personal plastic use and helping collect trash on the trail.


What You Need to Bring Yourself
Clothing & Personal Gear:
- Headlamp or flashlight (with extra batteries)
- Trekking shoes with good grip (already broken in)
- Socks (2–3 pairs)
- Light toiletries (biodegradable preferred)
- Sunscreen or sunblock
- Muscle spray or balm
- Insect repellent
- Quick-dry small towel
- 2–3 breathable T-shirts
- 1 pair of hiking shorts (dry season)
- Raincoat or poncho
- Long trekking pants or windproof trousers
- Warm jacket, windbreaker or fleece
- Gloves, gaiters, warm hat, sun hat or cap, buff
- Trekking pole/hiking stick (optional, available for rent)
- Sandals or flip-flops (optional, for campsite use)
- Swimsuit (for hot springs near the lake)
- Personal snack (we provide fruits, you may add energy bars, etc.)
- Fishing gear (optional, for 3+ day treks only)
- Small garbage bag or reusable trash pouch
- Camera or action cam (manual or digital)
- Binoculars (optional)
- Backpack Guidelines:
- Please pack light! Keep your daypack under 8 kg.
- Porters will carry camping gear and main food supplies, while you carry personal items, water, and essentials.
What you should prepare and bring with you:
- Torch or Flashlight
- 1 pair hike shoes

- Sun block/lotion
- Spray for muscle/balm

- Camera, Handy cam (Manual or Digital)
- Small towel
- 2/3 pieces of T-Shirts (one piece every day)
- 1 peace of short pant for 2 days maximum in dry season.

- Glove, gaiter, winter hat and sun hat, mountain buff
- Trek stick/hiking pole (optional)

Rinjani preparation guide Tips Before the Trek:
A certified local guide is mandatory for all treks. Green Rinjani provides 1 guide for every 4 trekkers. Larger groups will have additional guides.
Trim your toenails before trekking to avoid bruising or discomfort during long descents.
Trekking poles are highly recommended and available for rent — please request in advance.
Ensure you are physically fit. Park rangers will conduct a basic health and documentation check at the trailhead.
Submit your passport details before arrival — required for trek permits.
Bring sufficient cash, as there are no ATMs in Senaru or Sembalun.
During the Trek :
- Wear breathable clothes during the day and warm layers at night or when approaching the summit.
- Apply sunscreen before the hike begins.
- For the summit climb (usually early morning), wear a warm jacket, gloves, headlamp, and windproof pants.
- Carry at least 1.5 liters of water at the start. Our team provides safe bottled mineral water (we do not use mountain spring water for drinking).
- All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are freshly prepared by our cooking team. We serve a variety of delicious Indonesian dishes — no repetitive menus.
- Please do not use shampoo or soap in the lake or hot springs — help us protect the environment.
- Always bring back your trash or join our team in collecting any litter found on the trail. Let’s preserve Rinjani for future generations.

Avoid wearing denim jeans — they’re heavy, slow to dry, and restrict movement. - Dress in layers for quick adaptation to temperature changes.
