Name: trail_conditions

The Senaru–Torean Lake 3 Days 2 Nights trek offers a varied and immersive trail, combining dense rainforest, volcanic terrain, and dramatic valley landscapes. Compared to summit routes, this itinerary focuses more on scenery, nature, and exploration rather than extreme altitude gain.

Day 1 — Senaru Village to Senaru Crater Rim
The trail begins with a steady ascent through dense tropical rainforest. This section is mostly shaded, with cool temperatures and high humidity. Expect natural forest steps, exposed roots, and occasional rocky sections. As altitude increases, the forest gradually opens near the crater rim, revealing panoramic views over North Lombok and, on clear days, the Gili Islands.

Day 2 — Crater Rim to Segara Anak Lake & Hot Springs
The descent from Senaru Crater Rim to Segara Anak Lake is steep and rocky. The trail includes narrow paths, loose stones, and uneven surfaces, requiring careful footing. However, the views improve continuously as the turquoise lake comes into sight. Around the lake area, the terrain becomes flatter and more relaxed, allowing time to enjoy the hot springs and lakeside surroundings.

Day 3 — Segara Anak Lake to Torean Village
The final day follows the famous Torean route, known for its dramatic volcanic valley. The trail passes rivers, waterfalls, and open canyon-like landscapes. While most of the day is downhill, some sections are narrow and rocky, especially near river crossings. This part of the trek is scenic and adventurous rather than physically exhausting.

Overall, the trail is technically varied but manageable for trekkers with good fitness and basic trekking experience.

Day 1 — Senaru Village → Segara Anak Lake (2,000 m)

Breakfast at Senaru hotel – lunch and dinner on the mountain

Your Mount Rinjani jungle adventure begins early in the morning from Senaru Village (±601 m). After waking up, you prepare your personal gear and enjoy breakfast while the guide and porters finalize logistics and trekking equipment.

Around 07:00 AM, you are transferred to the trekking starting point near the Senaru Rinjani Trekking Center. After a short briefing and final equipment check, the trek officially begins.

The trail immediately enters dense tropical rainforest, where tall trees, bamboo groves, and shaded paths create a cool and humid atmosphere. The ascent is steady but manageable, following natural forest steps, exposed roots, and rocky sections. Along the way, you may encounter monkeys, tropical birds, and rich jungle vegetation.

By late morning, the trail opens gradually, offering occasional viewpoints over the surrounding valleys. After several hours of trekking, you reach one of the resting posts where lunch is prepared by the porters. This longer break allows time to recover energy before continuing deeper into the mountain.

In the afternoon

the trail becomes more dramatic as the forest gives way to volcanic terrain. The landscape changes noticeably, with steep crater walls and open views indicating your approach to the caldera.

By mid to late afternoon, you arrive at Segara Anak Lake (2,000 m), one of Mount Rinjani’s most sacred and beautiful locations. The turquoise lake lies beneath towering crater walls, with Mount Barujari rising from its center.

After setting up camp, you have time to relax and, if conditions allow, visit the nearby natural hot springs, located only a short walk from the lakeshore. Soaking in the warm mineral water helps ease tired muscles after the long jungle ascent.

Dinner is served by the lake as the temperature cools. You spend the night camping beside Segara Anak Lake, surrounded by the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of the crater basin.

Overview — Day 1

  • Distance: ±7–8 km
  • Estimated trekking time: 6–7 hours
  • Difficulty level: Moderate
  • Highest point: ±2,000 m
  • Main highlights: Tropical rainforest, jungle ascent, Segara Anak Lake, hot springs

Day 2 — Segara Anak Lake → Torean Valley Camp

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the mountain

You wake up beside Segara Anak Lake in the cool morning air, surrounded by towering crater walls and the calm surface of the lake. After breakfast, there is time to enjoy the atmosphere, take photos, or make a short walk around the lakeshore.

Before leaving the lake area, you may visit the natural hot springs once more. This relaxed morning pace is one of the highlights of the Senaru–Torean route, allowing proper recovery before continuing the journey.

In the late morning, the trek continues toward Torean Valley. The trail descends gradually from the caldera into a dramatic volcanic landscape. Along the way, you pass rocky paths, river crossings, and narrow sections carved by ancient lava flows. The scenery changes constantly, combining cliffs, waterfalls, and lush vegetation.

As you move deeper into the valley, the environment becomes greener and more humid. The sound of flowing water accompanies much of the walk, creating a refreshing contrast to the previous day’s jungle ascent.

Lunch is prepared along the route at a scenic resting point near the river. After a sufficient break, the trek continues through valleys and forested sections toward the campsite.

By mid to late afternoon, you arrive at Torean Valley Camp, a peaceful campsite surrounded by nature. After setting up camp, you can rest, wash in the nearby river, and enjoy the quiet mountain atmosphere.

Dinner is served at camp. The night in Torean Valley is typically warmer than the crater area, making it comfortable for sleeping after a full day of trekking.

Overview — Day 2

  • Distance: ±5–6 km
  • Estimated trekking time: 4–5 hours
  • Difficulty level: Moderate
  • Highest point: ±2,000 m
  • Main highlights: Segara Anak Lake, hot springs, waterfalls, volcanic valley, river crossings

Day 3 — Torean Valley Camp → Torean Village

Breakfast and lunch on the mountain

The final day begins in Torean Valley, surrounded by forest, rivers, and steep volcanic walls. After waking up, you enjoy breakfast at camp while listening to the sounds of flowing water and morning wildlife.

The descent continues through the Torean route, one of the most scenic exits on Mount Rinjani. The trail follows riverbanks, passes waterfalls, and winds through green valleys with frequent river crossings. The terrain is mostly downhill, but some sections are rocky and uneven, requiring careful footing.

As you descend further, the forest gradually opens into farmland and village landscapes. The air becomes warmer, and the trail becomes easier as you approach lower elevations.

Lunch is prepared along the way at a shaded resting area near the river, allowing time to relax before the final section of the trek.

By early afternoon, you arrive at Torean Village, marking the end of your Mount Rinjani journey. After changing clothes and refreshing, your driver will be ready to transfer you to your next destination in Lombok.
